South of Perth Yacht Club – December 29, 2023 – January 4, 2024
The International Windsurfer Class Association (IWCA) is delighted to confirm that the 2023 World Championships will be held on the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia from December 29, 2023 – January 4, 2024.
The Swan River provides a fantastic sailing location with the legendary “Fremantle Doctor” seabreeze providing consistent winds on flat water under sunny summer skies.
A contingent of Australian 150 athletes are expected along with international sailors from more than 15 countries.
After the huge success of the 2022 Worlds conducted at Mondello Beach, Italy with over 350 competitors the IWCA has taken the opportunity to consider the resourcing and logistics requirements to ensure the best experience for competitors.
After discussions with local Clubs, the IWCA has chosen the South of Perth Yacht Club www.sopyc.com.au to host the event.
Located less than 10 minutes from Perth CBD, the Club offers extensive on water race management expertise backed by fantastic large-scale facilities for visiting sailors, families and friends to enjoy the hospitality and watch the racing.
A variety of accommodation options are available within easy access and proximity to the Club.
A Preliminary Notice of Race will be available in the next days. – Link: sopyc.com.au/windsurfer-worlds-2023
Entries will open on March 1st.
A minimum of 100 charter boards will be available to non-Australian competitors on a first come basis.
Further information including a dedicated event website, video overview and other useful information for competitors will be provided.
We look forward to welcoming you to enjoy the Windsurfer lifestyle – Australian style.
